Bill Guerci, CPA
Bill Guerci is a co-founder of Solid Benefit Guidance and has overall responsibility for the employee benefit practice. Bill manages all financial analysis performed by Solid Benefit Guidance including self-insurance evaluations, the deconstruction and negotiation of renewals and financial modeling. Bill’s management of Solid Benefit Guidance clients has resulted in significant benefit cost savings for these companies. He continues to guide SBG customers through evaluations of self-funding and other financing vehicles to search for potential cost savings opportunities. His tireless and creative approach to problem solving has allowed many satisfied customers to meet their budgetary goals. It is not surprising that Bill’s customer focus has resulted in a client retention rate of close to 100%.
Prior to co-founding Solid Benefit Guidance, Bill held a number of senior financial positions in the managed care industry including Chief Financial Officer for Group Health Incorporated, Vice President of National Accounts and Vice President Medicare HMO division at Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield and Chief Financial Officer at NYL Care Health Plans. Bill’s unique combination of financial expertise, knowledge of the health care system and creative thinking has been a significant benefit to these firms.
Bill received his Bachelor of Science in accounting from Manhattan College. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of both the AICPA, NY State Society of Accountants and Financial Executives International. Bill also serves as a Trustee on the Nyack Hospital Board.
Bill Bacich, CPA

Bill is an accomplished professional and is responsible for the overall management of Solid Benefit Guidance’s pharmacy contracting and analytics team and initiatives. This oversight primarily includes Request for Proposal management, auditing, reporting, and analytics. Bill is also a member of the executive leadership team at Solid Benefit Guidance.
Bill has successfully leveraged his many years of insider knowledge of the Pharmacy Benefit Management business model to yield significant savings for Solid Benefit Guidance’s pharmacy consulting clients. He will continue to bring increased value to Solid Benefit Guidance clients by continuing to drive Pharmacy Benefit Management vendors on behalf of the clients to provide best in class solutions to their healthcare needs. Bill relies on his extensive background to achieve the best financial outcome for clients.
Prior to Solid Benefit Guidance, Bill’s work experience includes Director of Pricing at Medco Health Solutions and Director of US Managed Markets Contracting and Analytics at Novartis Pharmaceuticals. He graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. In addition, Bill is also a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Society of CPAs.
Helen Sherman, Pharm. D, RPh
Chief Pharmacy Officer
Helen’s lifelong commitment to advancing the best use of medications supports both Solid Benefit Guidance’s pharmacy consulting and employee benefit clients. Helen is an advocate of healthcare transparency and value and focuses on using solid scientific evidence as a foundation for healthcare decisions. She is dedicated to helping clients develop effective solutions in a dynamic and evolving health care marketplace.
Helen has comprehensive leadership expertise in pharmacy benefit management including business development, market evaluation, clinical services, rebate management, sales, account management, operations, claims processing, customer service, Medicare D, Medicaid, regulatory requirements, and vendor/system transitions. Helen will employ her vast knowledge of Pharmacy Benefit Management and her commitment to using evidence-based medicine for valuing medications to negotiate favorably for SBG clients.
Helen has 15 years experience in the health plan/pharmacy benefit industry, including Vice President for Business Development and Chief Pharmacy Officer for RegenceRX. She is an internationally recognized speaker and sits on several industry boards. Helen graduated from Oregon State University with a BS degree in Pharmacy and has a Pharm.D degree from Purdue University.

John Pfenning has more than 20 years of experience as a strategic solutions and business development leader in the healthcare industry. He joins Solid Benefit Guidance from Oscar Health Insurance, where he took the organization from start-up to over $200 million in a little over a year. Prior to Oscar he served as Director of sales and account management for EmblemHealth, Inc.
John Pfenning oversees development, implementation, and administration for the employer benefits segment, helping organizations get ahead of business challenges of attracting and retaining top talent while managing benefit costs.
John holds a MBA in finance and management from the University of Connecticut.
Seth Friedman, MBA
Area Senior Vice President of Client Management
Seth has overall accountability for the satisfaction of Solid Benefit Guidance’s pharmacy benefit management clients. Seth is responsible for ensuring satisfaction with SBG’s services, in addition to assisting in strategic pharmacy consulting, request for proposals, auditing, benchmarking, implementations, and Medicare Part D support. Seth has also spoken at a number of industry forums where he has provided perspective on the PBM industry.
Seth leverages his extensive knowledge of the PBM industry to ensure client satisfaction and to help yield significant savings for clients. Seth brings extensive knowledge, experience, and strategic consulting to provide exceptional service and help clients achieve their overall pharmacy benefit management goals. Prior to joining Solid Benefit Guidance, Seth spent 3 years as a Vice President in Aon Hewitt’s National Pharmacy Practice. Before joining Aon Hewitt, Seth spent 15 years with Medco Health Solutions where he held various potions in Account Management and Operations.
Seth graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor of Science in Health Management. Seth went on to receive his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University

Josh Golden has over 17 years of experience as a strategic consultant within the health care industry. He brings to bear a keen understanding of the entire pharmacy benefits supply chain to help his clients optimize financial and healthcare outcomes for the populations that they cover. Josh is recognized as a thought leader in the pharmacy benefits arena, and is frequently called upon for speaking engagements and media inquiries at a national level.
As an Area Senior Vice President at Solid Benefit Guidance (a division of Arthur J. Gallagher), he is responsible for the successful delivery of a wide range of pharmacy consulting solutions to Fortune 500 employers, government entities, labor unions, and other benefit plan sponsors. Josh has extensive expertise in the areas of vendor procurement, contract negotiation, benchmarking, audit, and plan design consultation.
Before joining Solid Benefit Guidance in 2016, Josh was the Practice Leader of the Employer Consulting Segment of Pharmaceutical Strategies Group, LLC. Prior to that role, Josh served as a Senior Pharmacy Consultant with Aon Hewitt. He has also served as a Pharmacy Specialist Consultant with Mercer Human Resource Consulting and a Benefits Analyst with Buck Consultants. His clients have included some of the largest and most complex employers in the country. Josh has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University.
Area Senior Vice President of Business Development
Will McHugh brings over 15 years’ experience in the health care industry. Prior to joining Solid Benefit Guidance, Will spent 3 years working in the health care practice group of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey before moving on to take business development positions at WebMD Corporation and AmeriHealth Mercy’s PerformRx.
Most recently, Will was Vice President of Business Development for Catalyst Rx, which was one of the nation’s fastest growing PBMs before it was acquired by SXC Health Solutions. While at Catalyst Rx, Will worked with some of their largest clients such as Wellcare, MCS, First Medical, and Independence BlueCross.
Will holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida State University.
